FABRIC SUGGESTION
1. Silk: Silk is a luxurious fabric that is perfect for a kimono. It has a soft, flowing drape and feels cool against the skin. You can choose from a variety of silk fabrics, including silk charmeuse, silk crepe de chine, and silk satin.

2. Rayon: Rayon is a soft, lightweight fabric that drapes beautifully. It’s also affordable, making it a great choice for beginners. Rayon challis or rayon crepe would both work well for a kimono.

3. Cotton: Cotton is a versatile fabric that comes in a range of weights and textures. A lightweight cotton voile or lawn would work well for a summer kimono, while a heavier cotton twill or canvas could be used for a more structured kimono.

4. Linen: Linen is a breathable, lightweight fabric that is perfect for warm weather. It has a natural, textured look that adds a touch of casual elegance to a kimono.

5. Crepe: Crepe is a textured fabric that has a slightly rough feel to it. It drapes beautifully and has a slightly stretchy quality, making it a comfortable choice for a kimono.

FABRIC ESTIMATES
Depending on the garment size, from 3.02 to 3.40 yards of 60-inch width fabric.

TRIMS & ACCESSORIES
Self-fabric belt: Instead of buying a belt, you can make a belt out of the same fabric as your kimono. Simply cut a long strip of fabric, fold it in half lengthwise, and stitch along the long edge. Turn it right side out and press it flat.

Contrast thread: You can use a contrasting thread color to add a subtle detail to your kimono. Simply use a different color thread for your topstitching, such as a darker or lighter shade.

Piping: You can add piping to the edges of your kimono to give it a more polished look. You can either use pre-made piping or make your own by cutting bias strips of fabric and covering piping cord with it.

Lace trim: You can add lace trim to the edges of your kimono for a delicate and feminine touch. Simply sew the lace trim to the raw edge of your fabric before folding and hemming the edge.
